This is a reasonably strong red colour that is raspberry red rather than scarlet. The liquid had a noticeable beetroot aroma, although this disappears when mixed with whatever you are colouring.
To achieve a dark red you will need to use quite a lot, so be sure to take this into account when adding any other liquid to your recipe or ingredients.
So far, I have tested this only in uncooked items such as drinks and ice cream.
